In Human: Bovine, I have used bovines in different settings and backgrounds as a metaphor for the human being. A massive creature which has a tendency towards living in a herd. It represents the human need for connection and community and the challenges they face navigating their relationships with others. Paradoxically, these creatures seem to focus only on one direction and are unaware of anything else outside that narrow perspective. The way we experience life and respond to it is mostly derived from our subconscious and I attempted to convey the idea that humans can become captive to this subconscious and lose sight of the bigger
canvas.
The simple and intuitive figures in this work evoke the cave paintings of ancient civilizations, emphasizing the timeless nature of our societal life. It is also rooted in my interest in the expressive power of intuitive forms and is linked to my art journey as a self-thought individual. The composition of the elements is influenced by the Iranian traditional illustration style- Negargary- where flat scenes and the absence of perspective represent our perception of the world rather than its reality.
